WANA: The elders of Mehsud and Burki tribes on Monday asked the government to order the relocation of the district administration headquarters of Upper South Waziristan from Tank to Ladha to facilitate the residents.
Addressing an emergency press conference at Kaniguram Press Club, tribal elders including Malik Irfanuddin Burki, Malik Abdul Qadeer Khan Burki, Mehmood Khan Mehsud, Gul Muhammad, and others said that since long, the district administration headquarters of Upper South Waziristan had been based in Tank.
They said that due to its absence from its own district, Upper South Waziristan was being governed remotely from Tank. The elders said that the heads of various government departments received their salaries from Upper South Waziristan but reside in Peshawar and Islamabad.
They said that this was the main reason that Upper South Waziristan remained the most underdeveloped among all tribal districts. The elders emphasized that Upper South Waziristan would be put on the track to development if the district administration and the heads of various departments were relocated to Ladha. They welcomed the decision of the government and the Pakistan Army to shift the district administration offices from Tank to Ladha.
