BATKHELA: Calling for accountability, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf provincial President Junaid Akbar on Tuesday urged the government to form a commission to investigate alleged injustice against his party.
“The PTI will not engage in any dialogue with the government if the commission is not formed,” he said while speaking at a rally after arriving in his hometown.He expressed his gratitude to PTI founder Imran Khan for entrusting him with the responsibility of leading the party in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Later he was speaking to the media after receiving a warm welcome and leading a rally in his hometown.Thousands of PTI workers, alongside key leaders including former provincial minister Shakil Ahmed, Chief Minister’s Special Assistants Pir Masroor and Dr Shafqat Ayaz, and various tehsil chairmen, participated in a reception rally from Sakhakot to Thana.
The rally demonstrated support for Junaid Akbar as he assumed leadership of the party in the province.Junaid Akbar reiterated his commitment to the party’s principles and vowed to address challenges faced by PTI workers.
He said, “I am thankful to Imran Khan for trusting me with this responsibility. Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur was already burdened with many duties, so the party leadership chose me for this role. I assure everyone that Ali Amin Gandapur will complete his five-year term.”
Junaid Akbar criticized the arrests of PTI workers following May 9. “If PTI social media workers continue to face illegal detentions, we will besiege the homes of the officers responsible. Any untoward incident resulting from such actions will be the sole responsibility of the KP inspector general of police,” he said.
He clarified that PTI would not resort to unlawful actions but would also not allow others to act outside the ambit of law. “If the series of baseless FIRs does not stop, PTI workers will be forced to stage a sit-in outside the IG’s office,” he warned.
Junaid Akbar urged party workers to remain prepared for any call from Imran Khan. “Our resolve remains unshaken. Neither the government nor anyone else can intimidate us,” he stated. “Even when our women were not frightened, how does the government expect to scare our workers?”
