PESHAWAR: Adviser to Chief Minister on Health Ihtesham Ali on Saturday confirmed that the first Mpox case of 2025 had been reported at Peshawar Airport.

Upon receiving the report, the public health team promptly arrived at the airport and transferred the patient to Police Services Hospital.

Samples from the patient were sent to the Public Health Reference Lab for further analysis.

According to the Public Health Reference Lab, the Mpox virus was confirmed in a 35-year-old individual who arrived from Dubai.

The Health Department has officially written to the Peshawar Airport Manager, requesting detailed information about the passengers who were in close proximity to the patient. Once the details are received, the relevant District Health Officers (DHOs) will be notified to initiate contact tracing.
