BATKHELA: A jirga held at Thana Baizai in Malakand on Friday to protest against the rampant drug trade in the area and asked the government and the police authorities to take action to curb this menace.
The representatives of all political parties, lawyers, councillors, and civil society members and others attended the jirga. Later the participants of the jirga staged a protest.Led by Tehsil Chairman Afzal Hussain, Awami National Party leader Izharullah Khan, andJamaat-e-Islami leader Noorullah, participants marched from Thana Bazaar to the Levies post, demanding an operation against drug dealers.
The speakers expressed concerns about the prevalence of drugs like ice (methamphetamine) and hashish, which they said were being sold openly. They urged the police to take action against the drug pushers.
