PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has launched an urgent initiative to upgrade bus terminals in the provincial capital, ensuring better facilities and convenience for passengers.
Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has directed immediate measures to address the deteriorating conditions, including the dismissal of corrupt officials and their replacement with honest staff. A comprehensive list of terminals lacking basic amenities is to be prepared within 24 hours, while strict enforcement of government-approved fare rates has been ordered.
Commissioner, Peshawar Division, Riaz Khan Mahsud issued the directives while chairing a meeting to improve bus terminal facilities and ensure passenger welfare. “Passengers deserve basic facilities and fair treatment. We will ensure that all bus terminals meet the required standards and provide immediate relief to the public,” said Commissioner Riaz Khan Mahsud. He announced the formation of a committee, led by the Deputy Commissioner Peshawar, to oversee the implementation of these directives and ensure timely action. The commissioner also called for actionable recommendations from all relevant departments by January 21 and scheduled a follow-up meeting on the same date to review progress.
