Police, locals foil terrorist attack on checkpost

BANNU: A late-night terrorist attack on the Sheikh Lundak police checkpost was thwarted by the joint efforts of police and local residents. Heavily armed terrorists launched the assault, injuring one cop, who was later treated at the District Headquarters Hospital.

Police engaged in a prolonged exchange of gunfire, forcing the attackers to retreat. Local residents joined the fight, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the police, and played a crucial role in repelling the attack.

District Police Officer (DPO), Bannu, Ziauddin Ahmed, visited the checkpost after the incident, commended the bravery of the officers, and rewarded them with cash prizes. He also thanked the locals for their courageous support and emphasised the importance of community cooperation in combating terrorism.
