QUETTA: The Levies in three districts of Balochistan — Quetta, Gwadar, Lasbela — have officially been merged in the police.

This decision was approved during a meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary of Balochistan.

Spokesperson for government of Balochistan Shahid Rind has confirmed that the merger has been completed and that it would be effective in maintaining law and order in Balochistan.

The Director General of the Levies in Balochistan has sent a letter to the Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department, recommending the merger of the Levies personnel: Levies Quetta in Quetta Police, Gwadar Levies in Gwadar police and Lasbela Levies in Lasbela and Hub police. It should be noted that a total of 1,116 personnel from the Levies across these three districts have now been incorporated in the police force. These include various ranks such as weapons inspectors, clerks, risaldars, naib risaldars, dafadars, khassadars, jumadars, havildars, sepoys, wireless operators, and footmen from Grade 1 to Grade 11.
