Seminarian murdered, 2 girl students injured in landmine blast

MIRANSHAH: Two girls sustained serious injuries in a landmine explosion when they were on their way to a madrassa in the Sherani area of Dattakhel tehsil while a student of another madrassa was murdered in Miranshah on Wednesday.

Police officials said that two girls, aged 9 and 10 years, were on their way to a seminary when they stepped over a landmine that exploded in the Sherani area of the Dattakhel tehsil, injuring them severely.

They said that the girls were rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital in Miranshah where they were being provided medical treatment.The second incident occurred in Miranshah in North Waziristan, where 8-year-old student of a religious seminary, Tufail Muhammad, was found murdered.

The victim, who was a student of Jamia Ashrafia Madrassa in Miranshah, had gone missing some two days ago.According to police, his body was found in the Chashma Algad area, who had been killed by hitting his head with stones. The slain student hailed from the Asadkhel area in Dosali tehsil and was receiving religious education at the seminary.

The police registered a case against unidentified accused on the report of his uncle. A police official said that the victim was the nephew of a teacher at the same madrassa, whose 8-year-old son had also drowned in the Chashma Algad canal some 10 days ago. The teacher told the police that he had no enmity with anyone. The police initiated an investigation into the incident.
