3 more kids die of measles

BANNU: Death toll rose to 24 as three more children died of measles in the district on Friday, official sources said.

They said that measles broke out in remote parts of the district three days ago. Three more kids identified as Senan, Majid and Mir Nawas, residents of Mandan area, died of the disease. Meanwhile, Youth Forum of the Professional Doctors’ Association announced to launch a campaign to control the disease in the remote areas.

Talking to reporters, president of the association Dr Hamid Khan said the disease could not be controlled as people in the remote areas were adopting old techniques to prevent it. He said the two-day campaign would be launched to raise awareness among people about the disease and its prevention. Assistant commissioner and the officials of the Health Department would be part of the drive, he added.

House damaged in DI Khan IED blast: A house was damaged in an improvised explosives device (IED) blast near at Ramak, police sources said on Friday. They said that unidentified persons had planted an IED near the boundary wall of the house of one Manzor Hussain in Ramak. The IED went off at midnight and damaged the house. However, no loss of life was reported .
