PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Thursday issued notices to respondents in a petition filed against the proposed 26th amendment to the constitution after clubbing other petitions on the subject.
A two-member bench comprising Chief Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim and Justice Wiqar Ahmad heard the petition. The petition was filed by a former Member of the National Assembly, Bushra Gohar. Her counsel, Ali Gohar Durrani, pleaded the case.
The counsel for the petitioner told the court that the government was planning to introduce the 26th Amendment to the constitution, but the draft of the changes had not been made public. He said the petition had been filed to make the proposed package public.
