BANNU: The District Bar Association on Saturday announced full support to the 11-point agenda of the Bannu protesting police protest over the deteriorating law and order situation and target-killing of cops.
Talking to reporters after a meeting, the District Bar Association president, Shah Qayyaz Bacha advocate, general secretary Shoaib Khan Sadozai advocate, joint secretary Ilyas Shah Advocate, and other office-bearers said that their association would led fully support to the police to curb terrorism and target-killing in the district.
They called for an end to interference in police affairs, empowering the
police to combat terrorism and restricting security agencies to their respective jobs.
“The frequent incidents of targeted-killing cops have reached an alarming level, but still the real culprits get scot-free, the office-bearers said, adding that they not only work for the welfare of the legal fraternity but would also support the local elders and leaders resolving their issues at every forum.
They said that the association had decided to fully back the Bannu police in their genuine demands, particularly in worsening law and order situation, targeted-killing of police and civilians, and ensuring the protection of the public.
The lawyers’ leaders appealed to the administration to devise a strategy to address these issues. They also pointed out that the worsening security situation in Bannu, Lakki Marwat, and other southern districts required immediate attention of the government and security agencies.
They assured that in the current situation, they would stand by the public, police and raise their issues on every platform.
They also thanked the provincial government for giving a grant of Rs5 million for the welfare of Bannu DBA.
