PESHAWAR: A senior official said on Sunday all the patients suffering from mpox in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had recovered.“There is no mpox patient in KP now,” said Director of Public Health, KP, Dr Irshad Ali Roghani, while talking to Geo News.
He said the first case of the mpox virus was found in the Mardan district of the province but the patient had recovered now as his Polymerase Chain Reaction or PCR test had been found negative.
“The three other mpox patients have been discharged from the health facilities after recovering from the virus,” said Dr Irshad Ali.He said that the department had taken effective steps on an emergency basis that stopped the spread of the mpox. Dr Irshad Ali said that the screening process was still going on at the Bacha Khan International Airport in Peshawar, the border crossing at Torkham town and other entry points to KP to keep a watch on the situation.
