PESHAWAR: The incidents of kidnapping of government employees and citizens have increased in southern districts as well as the provincial capital.
In Peshawar, the family of a young doctor, who was kidnapped from Sarband, has asked the government for the early safe recovery of Dr Muhammad Yousuf. His father, Dr Faqeerullah, informed that his son left home for hospital but later his car was found abandoned on the roadside while his son was missing.
The kidnappers did not take his cellular phone. The family members are knocking every door to ensure the safe recovery of their son. In Bannu an assistant sub-inspector Sakhi Zaman was kidnapped when he was on way to the police station to join duty.
A day later, assistant registrar of the Revenue Department Taj Mali Khan was kidnapped from outside his house in Bannu City.
The district bar association of Bannu as well as elders and political leadership have expressed concern over the incidents of kidnapping of officials and the failure of police and other law enforcement agencies in providing security to the people.
In Dera Ismail Khan, three brothers, including a senior army official, were kidnapped a few days back. However, they have returned home safely.
A number of incidents of kidnapping of government officials and other people have been reported in the last few months in different districts of Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan division.
The law and order situation in the two divisions is the worst in the last many years.
The Home Department also issued an advisory for the government employees to avoid unnecessary visits to the area due to threats of kidnapping.
Serious efforts are needed for the early safe recovery of the kidnapped citizens as well as to improve the law and order situation in Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan division as well as other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar.
