MARDAN: Encroachments in bazaars and chowks in the district are causing various problems for both pedestrians and motorists.
Mohammad Javeed, a local resident, stated that the encroachment mafia has virtually occupied key areas including Bank Road, Charsadda Chowk, Shahidano Bazaar, Shamsi Road, Khwaja Ganj Bazaar, Par Hoti Chowk, Chato Chowk, Dwasaro Chowk, Adda Road, and Malakand Chowk in the city.
Local residents have accused the Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) of ignoring these violations, allegedly in exchange for bribes. They said many shopkeepers, supported by traders’ organisations, are said to be behind these encroachments, shielding them from action. The situation is exacerbated by banks and hospitals placing large electricity generators on footpaths, causing additional problems for residents.
