DIR: A new vegetable and fruit market was inaugurated in the Upper Dir district headquarters on Sunday.
The inauguration was performed by Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Najmuddin Khan, as well as activists of Jamaat-e-Islami, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), and other parties.
In his inaugural speech, Najmuddin Khan stressed the importance of cleanliness and hygiene to boost trade and commerce. He expressed optimism that market leaders and traders would ensure the availability of quality products at reasonable prices.
Speakers including Fasihullah and Imran Saeed asked the traders to offer relief to the common people and middle class through affordable pricing.
Khalid Roghani, president of the local traders association, voiced concerns over rising theft and robbery incidents in the market and surrounding areas, asking police to improve the situation. Rahimullah, president of the Vegetable Sellers Association, requested the district administration and police to permit vehicles to use a nearby one-way road to alleviate congestion in the main market.
