Mardan Press Club condemns killing of journalist

MARDAN: Office-bearers of the Mardan Press Club have condemned the killing of a former president of Landikotal Press Club, Khalil Jibran, and called for the immediate arrest of the culprits.


The demand was made at a meeting of the press club office-bearers, chaired over by President Muhammad Bashir Adil.Vice-President Faqir Hussain, General Secretary Akhunzada Fazal Haq, Joint Secretary Khurshid Wahab, and Finance Secretary Pervez Shaheen attended the meeting.

Prayers were offered for the forgiveness of Khalil Jibran and condolences were expressed to the bereaved family. The participants demanded that the government protect journalists.Through a resolution passed in the meeting, they urged the federal and provincial governments to offer full financial support to the family of Khalil Jibran. They sought a special package to support the education and treatment of the deceased journalist’s children.
