ISLAMABAD: Chairmen of nine Senate standing committees and chairperson of the Senate functional committee were elected, as the election process for the purpose continued on Friday.
Senator Ali Zafar of the PTI was elected as the chairman of Senate Committee on Information and Broadcasting, and his name was proposed by Senator Aun Abbas, and Senator Jan Muhammad seconded his name. After his election, Ali Zafar said joint efforts would be made for improvement of the sector, and recommendations would be made for the purpose.
Senator Talal Badar Chaudhry of the PMLN was elected as chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Privatisation. His name was proposed by Senator Ashraf Ali Jatoi, while senators Khalil Tahir and Bilal Ahmad Khan seconded his name.
Senator Mohsin Aziz of the PTI was elected as chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Energy. Leader of the Opposition in Senate Shibli Faraz proposed his name, while Senator Muhammad Qasim seconded it.
Senator Muhammad Humayun of the PTI was elected as chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Parliamentary Affairs. His name was proposed by Senator Mohsin Aziz while Senator Pervaiz Rashid seconded it.
Senator Aun Abbas of the PTI was elected as chairman of Senate Standing Committee on Industry and Production. Senator Saifullah Sarwar Niazi proposed his name, while Senator Anwarul Haque Kakar seconded his name.
Senator Saifullah Abro of the PTI was elected as chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Economic Affairs. Senator Falk Naz proposed his name and Senator Kamil Ali Agha seconded his name.
Senator Zeeshan Khanzada of the PTI was elected as chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistanis. Senator Dr Zarqa Suhrawardy Taimur proposed his name, while Senator Raja Nasir Abbas seconded it.
Senator Dr Zarqa Suhrawardy Taimur of the PTI was elected as chairperson of the Senate Functional Committee on Devolution. Senator Aun Abbas proposed her name, while Senator Zamir Hussain Ghumro seconded it.
Senator Maulana Attaur-Rehman of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUIF) was elected as chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Religious Affairs. Senator Khalil Tahir proposed his name and Senator Professor Sajid Mir seconded it.
Senator Kamil Ali Agha was elected as chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Science and Technology. Leader of the Opposition in Senate Shibli Faraz proposed his name, while Senator Dr Afnanullah Khan seconded it.
