Library established in Upper Chitral

CHITRAL: A library was established in Laspur valley of Upper Chitral with the aim to promote the habit of reading among the local people.

With a collection of over 24,000 books, the “Baba-e-Laspur Memorial Library” was inaugurated in Harchin village of Laspur valley in Upper Chitral. A number of local elders attended the ceremony.

“The library will provide access to quality education for students from low-income families,” said Shahid Ali Khan Yaftali, the nephew of Baba-e-Laspur Gul Wali Khan.He said the registration at the library was free for students and the collection would be updated regularly to cater to the changing educational needs of the community.

Speaking on the occasion, the elders termed the inauguration of the library a significant step towards bridging the educational gap in the region, where public libraries are scarce.
