Gandapur launches 3 housing schemes

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur on Wednesday launched three new housing schemes under PHA including Hangu Township, Dangram Housing Scheme in Swat and Mega City in Nowshera to ensure the provision of better and affordable residential facilities to citizens.

A ceremony was held at the Chief Minister’s House in Peshawar, with the participation of Chief Minister’s Special Assistant Dr Amjad Ali, MNA Amjad Khan, MPA Mian Sharafat Ali and other senior officials.

The Hangu Township spreading over 8,362 kanals of land will house 10,162 commercial and residential plots of different sizes.The Dangram Housing Scheme covering 501 Kanals will house 682 both commercial and residential plots with different sizes. Similarly, Mega City in Nowshera covering 1,750 Kanals will have 3500 plots of different sizes, both commercial and residential.

An official statement said that these housing schemes would be collectively developed at an estimated cost of Rs21 billion.Addressing the inauguration ceremony, the chief minister said that the provision of affordable residential facilities to the citizens was a responsibility of the government, adding that the provincial government had launched three new schemes on public-private partnership to meet the housing needs of people.

He said the KP government would give 5-marla plots free of cost to the heirs of those government officials and personnel of various security forces who embraced martyrdom in the line of duty.

Gandapur added that new housing schemes worth Rs85 billion were also in the pipeline, which alongside meeting the housing needs would also generate employment opportunities.He said that the government would welcome local as well as foreign investment in various sectors including mining, energy, tourism and housing.
