MANSEHRA: A multi-party conference on Thursday demanded the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to address issues faced by people in Oghi tehsil.
“People have been facing enormous civic issues, but despite repeated efforts and street agitations the government didn’t take substantial measures,” Qazi Khalid, the chairman who presided over the conference, told reporters.
He said that the multiparty conference held earlier in the day was attended among others by representatives of political parties, traders and other civil society organisations.“The participants of the conference unanimously passed a resolution stressing the government to address all civic issues faced by the people within the next two weeks, or else they would block Milad chowk to traffic for an indefinite period,” Khalid said.
Moman Khan Usmani, Saqib Khan Sani, Anwar Saeed Khan, Riaz Osama also addressed the conference.Usmani said that the Darband-Oghi-Mansehra Road was destroyed owing to transportation of granite and other minerals but its royalty was not being spent on the maintenance and blacktopping of that important artery by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa mineral department.
“We have been experiencing a daylong power-outages since the weather turned hot earlier this month and took this issue to the Peshawar Electricity Supply Company, but in vain,” he added.Anwar Saeed said that transporters have increased fares of different routes despite the government cutting prices of petroleum products.
