JAMRUD: The Pak-Afghan highway was opened to traffic after two days following successful negotiations between senior officials of the provincial government and the elders of the Kukikhel tribe.
The people from Tirah valley in Khyber tribal district had blocked the highway in Jamrud, pressing the government for acceptance of their demands. However, they opened the road to traffic after successful negotiations with the government.
A 25-member representative delegation of Kukikhel tribe, including MNA Iqbal Afridi, MPA Jamrud Sohail Afridi, met Commissioner Peshawar Division Riaz Mahsud, Deputy Commissioner Khyber Sanaullah, Assistant Commissioner Jamrud Amir Zeb and Additional Commissioner Jamrud Naseer Abbas. The protesters were demanding the return of the displaced people to their native areas.
