WSSP officials directed to clean nullahs before rainy season

PESHAWAR: Commissioner Peshawar Division Riaz Khan Mahsud, who is Chief Executive of Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar (WSSP), on Monday directed authorities to ensure the cleanliness of rivers, streams, and waterways before the start of monsoon rains.

He issued the directives at a meeting, which was also attended by the deputy commissioner Peshawar, additional deputy commissioner, operational manager WSSP, and director Peshawar Development Authority and other officials.

He shed light on the importance of preventing waterborne diseases and maintaining the city’s hygiene during the rainy season.The commissioner instructed the WSSP to clean the Shahi Katha and other nullahs before the monsoon rains.

The Peshawar Development Authority was directed to clean canals and streams flowing from Hayatabad, Regi Lalma, and other areas.The deputy commissioner was tasked with overseeing the cleanliness situation through the assistant commissioners. The commissioner emphasized that last year’s lack of cleanliness during the monsoon season caused water overflow from rivers and streams which inundated roads and houses.
