Power loadshedding in Mardan protested

MARDAN: Dozens of residents of Bagh-e-Iram Union Council staged a protest rally against the excessive load shedding and the alleged harsh attitude of the Peshawar Electric Supply Company Pesco) officials.

The protest rally was organized by Bagh-e-Iram Grand Jirga. The protest rally was led by Arshad Khan, Mumtaz Bahadur, and others.The protesters were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans in favour of their demands. The protesters gathered outside the Mardan Press Club. They set a five-day deadline for ending the loadshedding.

They warned of blocking Mardan-Nowshera Road outside the Mardan grid station if load-shedding was not ended and the executive engineer was not transferred.Later, addressing a news conference at the Mardan Press Club, elders Irshad Ahmed, Qari Junaid Ahmed, Mumtaz Bahadur, Dr Muhammad Rahim, Malik Wajid Awan and others said that over 12 hours of load-shedding in Union Council Bagh-e-Iram has made life miserable for the residents.They said when the elected representatives of union council and the residents of the area tried to meet Pesco XEN-1 Shakeel about the unannounced load-shedding but he refused to meet.
