KP govt promoting responsible tourism, says CM’s aide

MANSEHRA: Chief Minister’s Advisor on Tourism and Culture Zahid Chanzeb on Friday said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government was promoting responsible and sustainable tourism to attract national and foreign tourists.

“We (KP) have a great tourism potential and are going to provide more infrastructure and a sense of security to visitors to enhance our annual revenue from this sector,” he added. The CM aide was speaking at the launching ceremony of the responsible tourism awareness campaign at a private educational institution here.

District Police Officer Shafiullah Khan Gandapur and Commandant Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tourism Police Imtiaz Shah were also present on the occasion.Zahid Chanzeb said that he was here to sensitise students and the public at large to keep tourist resorts pollution- free and extend traditional hospitality to visitors.

“We have started deploying tourism police forces at picturesque destinations in Hazara and the rest of the province for the safety and guidance of tourists coming to enjoy peace of mind and the essence of nature from within the country and abroad,” he added.

The CM aide said his ministry was also active in exploring more and more tourists’ destinations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.“The tourism season has also started in Kaghan valley after the district administration cleared the Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad Road,” Chanzeb said. He said that heavy machinery was being used to clear snow and glaciers on the rest of the Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad Road to restore traffic between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan.
