License suspension: PHC directs PBC for early hearing in Mashaal’s appeal

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Tuesday issued directives to the Pakistan Bar Council to hear Adviser to Chief Minister on Zakat, Ushar, Social Welfare and Women’s Development Mashaal Yousafzai’s appeal against suspension of her license as soon as possible.

A division bench of PHC comprising Justice Ijaz Anwar and Justice Shakil Ahmad while hearing the petition of CM Aide Mashaal Yousafzai.Qazi Muhammad Anwar and Syed Sikandar Shah advocates appeared for the petitioner while Sadiq Ali Mohmand on behalf of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council.

Qazi Anwar Advocate told the bench that the police had manhandled Alamzeb Advocate at the gate of the high court. He said that Mashaal Yousafzai, who was present on the occasion, had mentioned the incident on her social media account.He said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council had suspended her license after her post. However, he said that the KP Bar Council chairman had restored her license later.

He said that the Pakistan Bar Council had suspended the restoration of her license after the KP Bar Council chairman moved the PBC.He pleaded that the PBC kept suspended the license of CM aide and declared the ongoing proceedings of the committee right.He said that the petitioner moved the PHC for relief.Upon this, the court issued directives to the PBC that it was a matter of lawyers, which should be heard forthwith.
