ABBOTTABAD: The colorful student week at the Comsats Abbottabad Campus concluded on Friday witnessing participation of thousands of students and faculty members of the institution.
Outdoor and indoor games, declamation competitions, pet shows and a host of activities took place during the week that kept the students engaged besides entertaining them. Director of the Campus Prof Dr Imtiaz Ali Khan was the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony on Monday last as well as the concluding ceremony on Friday. The happiness of the students was visible to everyone. The way they were enjoying every activity throughout the whole week was worth seeing.
Every activity was arranged in a fascinating and well-organized manner. The sound system was exemplary that would make the participants as well as the spectators more enthusiastic and jubilant.
The lush green lawns of the campus were full of activities. One would hear cheering, clapping and loud music from all around. At the Department of Chemistry, a group of students presented martial arts, which became the centre of attraction for all the students of the campus.
At the Department of Development Studies, a unique ‘Pet Show’ had been organized. Dogs of top breeds, cats, horses and other pets were put on display at a spacious lawn. Participants would appear before the crowd with their pets to get applause from the excited crowd. The drumbeater would instill more enthusiasm among the spectators. The show concluded with a traditional dance by the faculty and students of the department.
The students of various departments had arranged stalls displaying various items. They had put their own products on display at the stalls. The students of pharmacy had developed their own perfumes which they had put on display.
There were stalls of food stuff as well where traditional foods were being provided to visitors. A number of sports competitions including cricket, football, basketball, volleyball and a number of indoor games such as badminton, table tennis, chess, carrom board and others had been arranged for both male and female students as well as the faculty members of the campus. All the competitions were concluded on Friday and the winners were given trophies and cash prizes.
One attractive activity observed during the week was that a platform had been arranged for the students to display their talent. The students were allowed to perform whatever they were best at like singing, acting and others.
Director of the Campus, Prof Dr Imtiaz Ali Khan seemed happy at the peaceful arrangement of the activities. He lauded the organisers and the students of each and every activity.
He said that these activities would instill more energy among the students and their interest in the co-curricular and extra-curricular activities would enhance. He reiterated that extra-curricular activities were as important as the co-curricular ones.
He was appreciative of all the students who displayed their skills at various events during the week. He said that the institution was already among the top most institutions of the country and had a very good position in the Asia and world ranking. But they would further take it to heights of success, he vowed.
Dr Imtiaz said that during the week top officials of a number of institutions also visited the institution with whom memorandums of understanding (MoUs) were inked for making collaboration in future. He specifically mentioned Dr Athar Lodhi of Ayub Teaching Hospital, who visited the institution. He said that they would soon ink an MoU with the hospital so that the pharmacy students of the campus could conduct an internship there.
The Rescue 1122 decided to extend services to the campus, the Water and Sanitation Services Abbottabad would also extend its services to the Comsats Abbottabad Campus. Regarding the campus, Dr Imtiaz said they had some 6000 students enrolled in 44 educational programmes in the 22 academic departments of the campus. They were also having hundreds of foreign students studying in different departments.
