Crackdown on anti-elements for peace in Muharram

MULTAN: The Punjab Home Department, emphasising peace and cooperation between police and administration, has vowed to crack down on those disrupting law and order, displaying weapons and drug mafias to ensure peace during Muharram.

Punjab Secretary Interior Noorul Amin Mangal said this while speaking at a briefing on law and order situation here on Tuesday He said that mutual cooperation between the divisional administration and police was indispensable to maintain law and order in the city. He ordered strict enforcement against the display of weapons to ensure establishment of peace.

Commissioner Multan Division Mariam Khan remarked that the law and order situation in the city, including the division, is satisfactory. She said that complete cooperation has been developed with religious scholars regarding matters such as Muharram, Ramazan, Rabiul Awwal, and other religious affairs. Steps are being taken for the rehabilitation of drug addicts on the directives of the Punjab government. Vocational training is being provided to residents of the Drug Rehabilitation Center, keeping their interests in mind. After completion of the course, certificates will also be issued to these individuals along with job security.

RPO Multan Region Sohail Chaudhry stated that strict action is being taken against electricity thieves, with 7,303 cases registered so far and 6,555 electricity thieves arrested. The law and order situation in the division has improved with 10,504 police personnel, 82 police stations, and 4 protection centers established in the division, providing relief to 2,598 citizens. A modern system has been implemented in the police stations, a culture of negotiation is being enforced, and immediate action is taken on complaints.
