Barrister Saif terms Punjab govt ‘fake’

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Adviser to Chief Minister on Information and Public Relations Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif on Tuesday termed the Punjab government “fake” and said it was dragging its feet to purchase wheat from farmers.

He said the Punjab government was engaged in political maneuvers at the expense of farmers, who reportedly incurred a loss of Rs900 per maund of wheat.Condemning the arrests of protesting farmers by the Punjab government, he said that instead of resolving their issues, the Punjab government was suppressing them.

He asserted that the claims made by the Punjab chief minister in support of farmers were aimed at face-saving.Barrister Saif suggested that instead of focusing on self-promotion, the Punjab chief minister should work to mitigate the sufferings of the farmers in Punjab.He said the Punjab government was least bothered to address the difficulties being faced by the poor farmers, adding that the she was busy boosting her own image by visiting tandoors.
