PTI activists to protest ‘death’ of youth in police custody

KHAR: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) local activists on Tuesday announced to stage a protest against the ‘death’ of a youth in the custody of Counter-Terrorism Department police in Bajaur tribal district.

One Abubakar, a resident of Kohati in Mamond tehsil, was in the custody of CTD police, who died in mysterious circumstances in the lock-up.The relatives said that the CTD police had arrested Abubakar from Okara in Punjab some one and a half months ago. They said that he was running a shop to earn a livelihood for the family.

They alleged that Abubakar was ill but he was not being provided medical treatment despite his deteriorating health condition.The death of Abubakar in the CTD police has caused anger and anguish among the local residents.

The PTI activists, including Najeeb Khan Mamond and others have announced to stage a protest against the mysterious death of Abubakar in the custody of CTD police.Meanwhile, District Police Officer Sajjad Khan said that Abubakar was in the police custody but he had died of cardiac arrest.The police were producing him in the court but he died due to cardiac arrest before his appearance. He said that the police were investigating the case.
