“I visited the police lines without any prior intimation and protocol and found some discrepancies in the ongoing appointment process, which is why I contacted the DPO,” said an official communique quoting the CM’s adviser as saying.

He said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa wanted to ensure merit in the appointments across the province and that was why he paid a ‘surprise’ visit to the Police Lines to oversee the physical and examination process taking place for induction of police personnel under the Education and Testing Evaluation Agency.

“We will never compromise on merit in any field, particularly in the police force which is the backbone of our security and waging a war at the forefront against terrorism and militancy in the province,” he added.

The CM aide also addressed hundreds of candidates who appeared in physical and other appointment formalities to be inducted as policemen. The present PTI-led provincial government wanted to ensure merit in all sectors, particularly the police force, he added.

Meanwhile, the DPO Shafiullah Gandapur in pursuance of the CM’s aide order visited the police lines and reviewed the security arrangements for the ongoing formalities for recruitment of police personnel. He assured advisor tourism that all stages of police recruitment will be made transparent under foolproof security arrangements at police lines and its surrounding vicinity.
