Orakzai tribe asked to form peace bodies

Officials say IDPs of agency’s upper parts to return soon

HANGU: A senior military officer on Saturday asked the Mamozai tribe to form peace committees to help the law enforcers restrict militants from reorganising in upper parts of Orakzai Agency.

Commanding Officer Frontier Corps Colonel Sheraz made the demand while talking to elders of Mamozai tribe during his visit to Shahokhel checkpost in Kalaya, the administrative headquarters of Orakzai Agency.

He said that formation of such committees was vital to maintain peace.

Assistant Political Agent Iqbal Wazir, Major Owais, Captain Kaleem of the Pakistan Army and other officials of the political administration were also present.

Colonel Sheraz said the law enforcers and tribespeople of Mamozai tribe had rendered sacrifices for restoration of peace.

“We won’t let those sacrifices go waste and won’t let the militant reorganise in the area,” he added.

He said the internally displaced persons from upper parts of Orakzai would be sent back to their native areas soon after the completion the process of clearing these areas of mines.

He also asked the tribespeople to resolve the personal disputes and live peacefully. He said that 20 youths from Mamozai tribe would be recruited in the Pakistan Army.

The elders assured support to the political administration to maintain peace in the
area.
