Minister stresses professionalism, innovation in healthcare

PESHAWAR: Provincial Health Minister Syed Qasim Ali Shah 0on Tuesday underscored the importance of professionalism and innovation in education and healthcare to meet the present-day challenges.

During his visit to Khyber Medical University (KMU), he emphasized that both sectors were top priorities of the government. He called for the introduction of European model medical facilities in healthcare and market-based subjects in medical educational institutions.

KMU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Ziaul Haq briefed the minister on the university’s endeavors in expanding physiotherapy, nursing, and allied health sciences programmes across province and merged areas.

Minister Syed Qasim Ali Shah expressed his support for these initiatives and endorsed the proposal to establish KMU campuses in all merged districts with backing from the Higher Education Department.

He praised the KMU’s pivotal role in advancing medical education and fostering innovation in healthcare. He lauded the university’s commitment to academic excellence and groundbreaking initiatives in the field.

The minister later mingled with students and distributed scholarships and certificates to meritorious individuals.Acknowledging KMU’s transition to a paperless university and its pioneering introduction of computer-based examinations through an e-office system, the minister commended the institution’s dedication to embracing modern educational methodologies.He expressed satisfaction over the progress of the KMU teaching hospital research centre, which is anticipated to be finalized within the next two to three months.
