Multan’s first female commissioner Maryam Khan starts duties

MULTAN: The first female commissioner Maryam Khan took charge as Multan divisional commissioner office here on Friday. She is the first female commissioner since the establishment of the Multan division during the British colonial period. Jhang, Muzaffargarh, Mianwali, and Dera Ghazi Khan districts (Rajanpur, Jampur, Kot Addu, Taunsa, Layyah) were all originally part of the Multan division under British rule.


“Doors of the commissioner’s office are opened to the public, prioritizing merit-based solutions to problems under the open door policy. Steps will be taken to eradicate corruption. The division will prioritize best practices for cleanliness and beautification, fostering a positive and healthy environment for all,” Maryam said.

Additional Commissioner Coordination Abdul Jabbar, Additional Commissioner Revenue Arshad Gopang, Additional Commissioner Consolidation Rana Akhlaq, Director Development Rubina Kosar, Assistant Commissioner General Mehr Sajid, and Deputy Director Information Iram Saleemi were also present.

She also visited the Children’s Hospital Old and New Emergency and reviewed medicines quality and medical facilities. She also interacted with the families of the patients and ordered immediate assistance for deserving patients. She issued directives to improve the cleanliness in the hospital and emphasized making Saraye functional and sustainable at the hospital. The Punjab government is actively striving to provide basic health facilities to the people, said the commissioner. Dean Children’s Hospital Dr Kashif Chishti, gave a detailed briefing, while Director Development Rubina Kosar and MS Children’s Hospital Dr Kamran Asif were also present.
