‘One person, one tree’ drive launched in UoP

PESHAWAR: A “One Person, One Tree” campaign launched at the University of Peshawar on Friday with the aim to encourage every member of the varsity community to contribute to the campus’s greenery by planting trees.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Saleem Hawad planted a sapling to commence the plantation drive. Dean Faculty of Social Sciences Prof Dr. Johar Ali, Director of Administration Muhammad Ishtaiq Khan, and Deputy Director of Administration Gohar Ali also planted their trees to mark the beginning of the campaign.

The “One Person, One Tree” campaign signifies a collective commitment to environmental sustainability within the university community.Following the official inauguration, students and faculty members participated in the plantation drive, each planting their own tree. An engaging art activity ensued, allowing participants to creatively affix their names on the Green Campus tree adding a personal touch to the campaign.

This innovative and green approach is set to transform the University of Peshawar into a more environmentally conscious and sustainable campus. The “One Person, One Tree” campaign not only fosters a sense of responsibility among the university’s community members but also serves as a model for future eco-friendly initiatives.
