PESHAWAR: Additional District and Sessions Judge Sher Ali Khan granted bail to four police officers, arrested on charges of altering evidence in a narcotics case worth millions of rupees.
The accused, including DSP Muhammad Haroon Jadoon, SHO Abdul Aziz of Gulberg Police Station, Moharrar Aziz Khan, and Additional Moharrar Arshad Khan, were accused of substituting 469kg charas, 1kg heroin, and 152kg opium with substances that were not narcotics.
Later on, authorities suspended the mentioned officers and arrested them.
During Wednesday’s hearing, the lawyers of the petitioners informed the court that the evidence against their clients was insufficient.
Furthermore, they said the defense could not provide evidence as to when the case items were altered. Moreover, they said there was no possibility for the applicants to abscond as they are government employees. After hearing the arguments, the court issued orders for the release of the accused.
