MANSEHRA: Transporters have increased fares following the closures of compressed natural gas stations in the division.

“Transporters have increased fares of all wagons and taxicabs running in the city putting an extra financial burden on people already reeling because of the effects of the country’s highest-ever inflation,”Mohammad Arif Rajpot, a local resident, told reporters.

Through the natural gas load management mechanism, the federal government has suspended CNG supply across the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The transports in light of the suspension of the CNG increased fares without prior notification by the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) across the Hazara division. The fares of transport running from Mansehra to Shinkiari, Jabori, Abbottabad, Oghi, Balakot, Darband and Haripur have been increased by transporters.

“Transporters didn’t bring fares down despite cuts in petroleum products prices during the entire last month but as the CNG stations have been closed by the government, they increased fares without any prior approval by the district administration or RTA,” Mohammad Ayub said.
