Pesco arrests 85 power pilfers

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) arrested 85 power thieves in various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

A press release issued here Wednesday said that entity also disconnected power supply to various villages in Charsadda district for non-payment of arrears outstanding against them.It said officials of the Pesco surveillance team carried out the action Bana Manri in Peshawar, Swabi and Charsadda districts. It said the teams caught illegal connections obtained through direct hooks and arrested the power thieves.

It stated that the arrested power thieves included owners of saw machines, flour mills and pipe factory.Meanwhile, the Pesco officials disconnected power supply to various villages of Charsadda district for non-payment of utility bills and arrears.

A press stated that the power to Qadimabad Umerzai, Umerzai, Amir Khan, Mirza Dher, China and Mir Wali villages had been disconnect after failure of the consumers to pay arrears despite repeated warnings.
