HARIPUR: At least 78 candidates, including a transgender and 15 women, have confirmed their candidature for the one national and three provincial assembly seats of Haripur.
According to lists of candidates displayed by the returning officers concerned on the last day of nomination papers filing on Sunday, 22 candidates, including three women, have filed their papers for NA 18 by the closing time.
Among the main contenders were PTI’s general secretary general Omar Ayub Khan, his wife Shehnaz Omar Ayub and PMLN’s former MNA Babar Nawaz Khan, former MPA and QWP’s provincial vice- president Dr Faiza Rasheed.
For PK-46 Haripur 1, a total of 20 candidates, including four women and a transgender, have filed their papers. The prominent among those were former provincial minister Qazi Muhammad Asad Khan, former provincial minister and divisional general secretary PTI Akbar Ayub Khan, QWP’s Dr Faiza Rasheed and Shaukat Raza alias Saima (transgender).
For the seat of PK-47 Haripur-II, 12 candidates including three women filed their papers. Former provincial minister of PTI Arshad Ayub Khan, former PMLN’s MPA Raja Faisal Zaman were prominent among the contenders.
For PK-48 Haripur III, a total of 24 candidates including five women have confirmed the candidatures by filing nomination papers. Former PTI’s MPA Faisal Zaman, former QWP’s MPA Gohar Nawaz Khan, PMLN’s Hamid Shahand former district nazim Adil Islam were prominent.
