ALPURI: Electricity outages in Shangla district have exceeded 12 hours duration daily and are adversely affecting business and other activities.
The outages also cause problems for the public in hospitals and government offices. In the winter season, areas like Shangla experience a reduced flow of water, leading to inadequate water supply in local households.
In the past two days, massive electricity outages in various regions have made life difficult for residents.
The deteriorating condition of electricity supply in the native constituency of the Pakistan Muslim League provincial president Amir Maqam has sparked protests by the residents.
Amir Maqam, who seeks votes from Shangla, is facing criticism on social media for the deplorable state of electricity and internet services in the area.
Meanwhile, the Traders Association Action Committee is also planning protests against persistent load-shedding. According to local sources, Shangla produces more than 50 megawatts of electricity, while the total demand is up to five megawatts.
