KOHAT: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sher Afzal Marwat on Sunday criticised the police for taking action against his party workers and preventing them from participating in political activities.
Addressing a convention of party workers at Khattak Colony ground, he said that the former prime minister was striving for ‘real’ independence and would not buckle under pressure.
Slogans were also raised in favour of the cops, who did not take action against the PTI workers despite orders from their high-ups. He paid rich tributes to the people of Kohat for turning up at the event despite facing hurdles. He also appreciated the PTI leaders, who faced jails and hurdles and stood by Imran Khan. Criticizing the arrests of the PTI workers, he demanded the police to release them forthwith.
Sher Afzal said that the use of force and harassment could not stop the people from supporting the PTI. He alleged that fake cases were registered against former prime minister Imran Khan and other party leaders.
Marwat said that 25 cases had been registered against him. He said that the PTI was not against the state and the party should be allowed to run its election campaign. He said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) leader Nawaz Sharif was imposed on the country three times and he committed huge corruption. He said that the PTI would not allow anyone to impose Nawaz Sharif on the nation for the fourth time. He said that the PTI was ready to face Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl, Awami National Party, Pervez Khattak-led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-Parliamentarians and other political parties in the upcoming general election.
