NOWSHERA: A case was lodged at the Counter-Terrorism Department Police Station in Risalpur on Friday against unidentified accused for taking the life of a cop in an attack the previous day.
Two cops of the Ababeel Squad of the police were busy in snap checking near a graveyard on the Muhajir Bazaar Road in the Akora Khattak town on Thursday when a suspect opened fire on them, leaving one policeman, Fawwad Khan, seriously injured.
The injured cop was rushed to the Qazi Hussain Ahmad Medical Complex but he succumbed to injuries there. He was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard in Ismailia.The case was registered under the Anti-Terrorism Act on the complaint of the colleague of the martyred cop who had survived the attack.
District Police Officer (DPO) Nasir Mehmood told The News teams had been constituted for investigation, adding he and Superintendent of Police Investigation Alamzeb Khan were overseeing the probe.
