PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and senior lawyer Muazzam Butt has asked the caretaker chief minister and inspector general of police to stop the arrests of PTI activists.
Speaking at a press conference here on Monday, he demanded that all the party workers illegally detained should be released forthwith. Accompanied by Atif Halim, Butt advocate accused the police of violating the sanctity of the homes of PTI workers.
Both the PTI members said that there was no rule of law in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, adding that the PTI was not being given the right to hold public rallies. They said that they wanted free and fair elections.
They asked the president to ensure the implementation of the Constitution as denying the right to hold a public rally was a violation of the Constitution.They demanded an end to what he called an unfair attitude towards PTI.
The PTI leaders said that the caretaker government was also involved in unconstitutional acts.They said that conditions for free and fair elections should be created. They said that the provincial government should create such conditions and that the federal government should announce a date for election with consultation.
They said that they were facing the law but that disrespecting political leaders should not be tolerated. The PTI leaders said that the public was being harassed and a sense of insecurity was being created with unnecessary checkpoints.
