PESHAWAR: The district administration on Saturday launched operation against encroachment on Kohat Road in the provincial capital and dismantled more than 650 shops, markets and houses built on public property.
Deputy Commissioner Peshawar Riaz Khan Mahsud had ordered operation against encroachments after proper consultations with the relevant authorities.
A spokesman for the district administration, Sajid Khan, said the district administration had made demarcation and directed people to peacefully remove illegal structures before launching the operation.
After expiry of the deadline, he said, the district administration launched operation and dismantled more than 650 structures, including shops, markets and houses.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Irshad Ahmad Sudhar supervised the anti-encroachment operation.
