Five arrested for taking bribe

NOWSHERA: The police on Thursday arrested five persons for allegedly taking bribes from the transporters by posing themselves Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) personnel, police said.

The police said that the accused used to establish checkpoints on various roads in the district to blackmail and mint money from transporters through various tactics. They said acting on the complaints of transporters, the police carried out the action and arrested Shabbir Ahmad, Rabnawaz, Momin, Sajjad Ali and Shehzada.

They said the accused were involved in the practice for the last two years. The arrested accused said that they were performing duty with the ANF on daily wages for the last two years. They said that they also used to work with the Attock Police and Excise Department in the past. Major Arif Bangash of the ANF said that the arrested persons were doing loading and unloading job with the force.
