PESHAWAR: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Thursday criticised the federal and provincial governments for ignoring the affected people in recent devastating rains and floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Addressing party workers at the residence of provincial general secretary Humayun Khan through a video link, Bilawal extended sympathies with the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He directed the party workers to help the flood and rain-affected people.

Expressing concern over the losses of precious lives in rains and floods, Bilawal said that both the federal and KP governments remained silent and left their people in the lurch. Instead of taking practical steps for the solution of affected people’s problems, he said, both the governments engaged themselves in minor issues.

Bilawal also directed the workers to concentrate on the success of Malik Tehmash Khan, party’s nominee for constituency PK-8. PPP provincial president Khanzada Khan, Rahimdad Khan, Syed Zahir Ali Shah, Nighat Orakzai, Najmuddin Khan, Noor Alam Khan, Barrister Masood Kausar, Azam Afridi, Arbab Zarak, Farzand Khan, Akbar Khan advocate, Malik Tehmash Khan, Anwar Khan and other leaders were also present.

Contrary to the May 2013 elections, all political parties have nominated their own candidates for the by-election on PK-8, which fell vacant after the death of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MPA Arbab Akbar Hayat Khan.

The by-election will be held on May 12 and the leaders of all major parties, including PML-N, ANP, PPP, JUI-F, JI, QWP, PTI and, PML-Q have directed their workers to concentrate on the success of their respective candidates.
