CHITRAL: General Officer Commanding (GoC)) Malakand division Major General Nadir Khan Wednesday said that the Pakistan Army was also taking part in development works after restoration peace in the region.
“The militants have been defeated and durable peace restored in the region after tremendous sacrifices by forces and the people,” he told a gathering at the office of the deputy commissioner in Chitral.
Civil and military officials were present on the occasion.The outgoing GoC said that the security forces had defeated militants and restored peace in Malakand division. He said the establishment of cantonments in Swat was aimed at making the area safe and to prevent the terrorists from reorganising there. “The security forces have completed the job of breaking the militants’ network and restoration of peace in Malakand,” he added.He said the support of the local population was key to get the job done.
