CM orders autonomous board to run Pashto Academy efficiently

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has directed constitution of an autonomous board for the Pashto Academy to run the body efficiently for the promotion of the literature.

This he said while talking to a delegation of the Pashto Academy led by Senior Provincial Minister Sikandar Hayat Sherpao at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat here on Tuesday. The delegation included Director Pashto Academy Dr Nasrullah Jan Wazir, Dr Farkhanda Liaqat and Dr Noor Muhammad Danish, said an official handout.

The literati apprised the chief minister of the problems of the academy, which were impeding the promotion of the Pashto literature. They demanded proper steps for solution to the problems of the academy on a permanent basis.

The chief minister assured the delegation of taking all possible steps for strengthening the academy. He underlined the need for finding ways and means for strengthening the academy to serve the Pashto literature in an efficient manner.

Pervez Khattak also directed for constitution of an autonomous board on the pattern of the Gandhara Hindko Board to make the academy more efficient. Director of the Pashto Academy Dr Nasrullah Jan was appointed as focal person for the purpose.

The delegation lauded the steps taken by the provincial government for the promotion of culture and encouragement of artisans. They termed the steps of the government in this regard as a positive contribution. Director of the Pashto Academy presented a collection of books published by the academy to the chief minister.
