PESHAWAR: Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra on Thursday visited the Combined Military Hospital, Peshawar where he inquired after the health of those injured in the bomb blast on a bus near Sunehri Masjid.
He expressed heartfelt sympathies with the members of the bereaved families and injured, said a handout. The governor said such terrorist attacks could not deter the national resolve to eliminate the wave of militancy and menace of terrorism.
He said the nation stand united with military in the war against terrorism. He said the operation against terrorists would continue till the elimination of the last terrorist. The governor prayed for the early recovery of the injured.
Meanwhile, Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has linked sustainable peace and eradication of terrorism in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) to the socio-economic development and mainstreaming the tribal region.
Chairing a meeting of the Fata Development Authority (FDA) here at the Governor’s House on Thursday, he stressed the need for effective utilisation of natural resources in Fata to
generate employment opportunities.
He directed FDA officials to take comprehensive measures to further enhance the economic and trade activities in tribal region, said a handout.He further ordered steps to facilitate local and international entrepreneurs to attract investment to Fata.
Additional Chief Secretary, Fata, Mohammad Aslam Kamboh and other officials attended the meeting. The governor said that security situation in Fata had improved, saying the conditions were suitable for foreign investment.
He asked the officials to identify alternative methods for electricity and power generation in Fata. The governor directed the officials to complete all development schemes within the stipulated time.Iqbal Zafar Jhagra called for expediting work on the construction of small dams and other energy projects to develop the agricultural infrastructure in the tribal areas.
