Girl found dead in hostel bathroom
LAHORE
A young girl was found dead in the bathroom of a private girls’ hostel in Wahdat Colony area on Saturday.
The deceased identified as Afzana hailed from Hafizabad and was living in the private hostel.
On the day of incident, the hostel fellows discovered her body lying in the bathroom and informed the police.
Body was shifted to morgue for autopsy to ascertain the cause of death.
Daish slogan: Iqbal Town police found a spray-painted slogan of Daish on the main gate of a house in Hunza Block Iqbal Town on Saturday.
The house owner identified as Yawar Ali had expressed ignorance about the persons who had painted a slogan in favour of Daish. He said his family discovered the spray-painted slogan on Saturday morning. Police were looking into the matter and suspected that some mischievous boys might have painted the slogan.
Speeding bus: A dry fruit hawker was killed by a speeding bus in Shera Kot area on Saturday.
It was reported that victim identified as Riaz of main bazaar Chung was about to step into the bus when the driver accelerated. As a result, he fell on the road and a rickshaw coming from behind ran over him. Injured Riaz was taken to a local hospital where he succumbed to injuries.
Police shifted the body to morgue and registered a case against an unknown bus driver.
Rescue 1122:
The Punjab Emergency Service Rescue 1122 has started induction process for dedicated Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) units at divisional level. In this regard, the induction process for recruiting USAR teams (Each consisting of 50 members) for Lahore and Rawalpindi divisions has been started by publishing recruitment advertisements in the leading newspapers. The interested candidates can apply through National Testing Service. Furthermore, the process to procure emergency vehicles, machinery and equipment for two USAR units has also been started for timely fulfilling the need of establishing specialised teams in both divisions.
The DG Rescue 1122 said that a summary for the establishment of Urban Search & Rescue Teams in all the nine divisional headquarters of Punjab had been formally approved by the CM. Lahore and Rawalpindi divisions were included in the first phase due to increased number of complex emergencies/disasters whereas in second phase remaining divisions would be equipped with dedicated Urban Search and Rescue Teams and Specialised Equipment. Furthermore, the Rescue 1122 will complete this process with the support of Pakistan Army in terms of ensuring quality training to specialised teams as Pakistan Army and the Capital Development Authority (CDA) possessed the requisite modern and sophisticated Urban Search & Rescue equipment as well as trained human resource. These USAR teams after Lahore and Rawalpindi divisions will be established in Multan, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Bahawalpur, DG Khan and Sahiwal.
