HU signs agreements with international universities

Karachi:  Habib University (HU) has signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with four reputable international universities, mainly from the United States, as part of its efforts to increase opportunities for Pakistani students, a HU spokesperson announced on Thursday. 

The four US universities with which HU has signed agreements are Stanford University California, Pitzer College, University of Michigan and Harvey Mudd College.

It was told that HU president, Wasif Akbar Rizvi and Dean of Stanford University’s Continuing Studies and Summer Session, Dr Charles Junkerman signed the pact for the Stanford Summer International Honours Programme (IHP), according to which students would leave for the institution by June 18.

A similar agreement was signed with Pitzer College, California with regard to different curricular activities and three students from both varsities would be exchanged each semester. Both institutions will also present papers on collaborative research which would be published later.  

Dr James Paul Holloway, Vice Provost of Global and Engaged Education and Dr James Penner-Hahn, Associate Dean, College of Literature, Science, and the Arts of University of Michigan, College of Literature have also signed an MoU catering to undergrad courses to strengthen scholarly ties.

Similarly, Harvery Mudd College and HU have also agreed to share resources in relation with the engineering programme to help HU students.

In addition with universities from US, HU would also be holding exchange programs with Texas A&M University at Qatar and the Carnegie-Mellon University and has signed MoUs with them as well.
